I was hoping there would be some kind of downloadable recovery tools as my recovery partition doesn't work either. If I hold the option key during start up, the only bootable device that shows up is my bootcamp partition, which is what's leading me to believe that there is a corrupt file in the OSX partition causing the booting problem.
I've read about MacBooks not booting due to faulty RAM and whatnot, but it does not seem to be a RAM issue at all.

It was already updated a week or two ago, so didn't have the same issue as it crashing after the update, but I haven't used it a whole lot since the update, maybe it's update related? Yeah, mine happened for what seems to be no apparant reason as well. If I have to I will wait until I get back, but would really like to try and get this fixed as I'm away and have to use a hotel lobby computer for communication.

I also did a VRAM reset which didn't help anything either.ĭoes anyone have any ideas as to how I may be able to fix this? I'm currently away and don't have any of my OSX discs or anything with me, so I'm hoping there may be a solution without them, even to just download a small recovery disc or something. I should mention that I've tried booting in all kinds of different modes with no success (safe mode, verbose, network.etc). I'm pretty sure if I had my OSX disc with me and did a clean installation it would work fine, as I think something may have gotten corrupted on the OSX partition, but I want to save the files on it and would rather not do a clean installation.
I'm not as worried about my Windows partition, more so about my Mountain Lion installation, as there are some more important files on that. I'm not sure if this has something to do with the OSX partition not being able to boot or what. If I let it try to load Windows it gets to the Windows logo with the "Starting Windows" text below it, but once it goes past that I get a BSOD.

I do have Windows 7 installed on a bootcamp partition and if I turn on my MacBook and leave it for a while it will begin trying to load Windows. When I turned it on again it made its start up tone noise, and the screen turned white as usual, but it didn't go any further than this, it just stayed on the white screen, the Apple logo doesn't come up or anything. I then powered down my MacBook manually by holding the power button in for a few seconds until the screen went off. After only a minute or two my MacBook froze, so I waited a few minutes to see if it would respond, but it didn't. The file loaded up fine and I started messing around with some things. Once it was booted up I opened up Logic & Ableton and loaded my project file.
I booted up my laptop and it seemed to take a little longer than usual, but it did boot. I use Logic Pro rewired with Ableton Live. The other day I was on a plane and decided to pass some time by working on some music I had started in Logic Pro. Ok, so for starters, I have a Mid 2009 MacBook Pro, 4GB of RAM, running Mountain Lion.
